Silja Meier Burns

Owner of Dancing Hammock Pilates and Movement | STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor | Certified in AG (AntiGravity®) Fundamentals 1 & 2 and AG Restorative Yoga 1, AG Pilates 1, and AG Restorative Yoga | BounceFit Instructor | ACE-PT Certified

Silja has years of movement experience. She was an advanced ballerina in her teens, a Class IV whitewater enthusiast and backpacking instructor in her 20’s, and a mother of two amazing children, 17, and 11 years old. She has taught ballet, kayaking, rafting, life skills, and for the last 17 years, pilates. She has a heart of adventure and fun, with a nurturing demeanor and a keen eye for proper form. 

Comprehensively certified in 2002 by the “Harvard of Pilates,” STOTT PILATES® (now known as Merrithew Health and Fitness), opening a pilates studio has been her dream since discovering the amazing pain relieving benefits while practicing and studying in Toronto. Since then she has taken numerous hours of Anatomy and Pilates workshops, earned her Personal Trainer Certification with American Council on Exercise (ACE), Christopher Harrison’s AntiGravity® Fundamentals 1 and 2, AntiGravity® Restorative Yoga, and is currently studying to become a Certified Postural Neurologist with the American Posture Institute. Her goal is to certify as an Instructor Trainer with STOTT PILATES® and expand into the first licensed training center in the Lowcountry! Fueled by her faith in Jesus and a youthful attitude, she dares you to defy gravity with her!

Pilates

Pilates trains the body as an integrated whole, bringing your entire being to the exercise. Focusing on breath and core strength, it improves postural awareness, increases energy, and when combined with aerobic activity, can promote weight loss.
Pilates workouts develop strengthened and balanced muscles as well as flexibility and increased the range of motion for the joints. Top-of-the-line equipment utilizing spring resistance creates additional load and challenge for the muscles.

AntiGravity® Fitness

You will feel lighter, taller, and happier in your first session! With regular sessions, AG increases decompression and hydration of the vertebral discs within the spinal column, and creates space for nerves and re-alignment of the spine. It refreshes the endocrine, lymphatic, digestive, and circulatory systems, releasing a cocktail of ”happy hormones” in the bloodstream. It just feels good!

BounceFit

Rebounding will strengthen your heart, build lung capacity and prevent your bones from losing density and becoming brittle. It is strength on a CELLULAR level—just ask NASA! You’ll burn fat, increase your energy and keep your body strong, aligned and balanced, while flushing your immune system of toxins, bacteria and waste. The gentle up and down motion loosens tight muscles and lubricates joints, transporting oxygen throughout your body and releasing mood-enhancing endorphins, both of which leave you feeling content and relaxed.
